Mystified by bird’s
still beauty
she lay dead in lone street.
Cars speeding passed
as Mourning Dove was
killed
on black concrete.
Gawking views
pierced through automobile
windows with
neglect.
Ignorant onlookers
left her to die
from disrespect.
Silent angelic
vibrations
drew me
along her route.
Noble lord above
knew I’d honor self
Christian devout.
When god’s creatures
perish
before us
we must seize action.
Breath stolen from
light
within dashed second
of split fraction.
Gracious duty was to
take it away
towards tranquil land.
With careful grasp
scooping up temple
in my trembling hand.
Precious warm body
beginning to harden
with demise.
Innocence of soft
feathered jewel
had darkened fragile eyes.
Death staring back at me
frozen with
humbled sad prayer.
Eliminating occurrence
of her unknown slayer.
Lifeless shell of plumage
remains
buried in stoned backyard.
Depths below bronzed
Saint Anthony
as sweet heavenly guard.
Opulent energy
transforms us
when life is revered.
Departure will
eventually come
yet never feared.
Principles of
integrity
should be lavish in
heart.
Fleshed
mortal bones of marrow
will one day also depart.
Give blessings of
abundant gold
aimed near glorious globe.
Mother earth
empowers itself
when blind ego’s disrobe.
Compassion of mankind
resides in all
omniscient souls.
Humanity fuels
grand quest
with quintessence of
pure goals.
